August 8 marked this year's National Fitness Day, and the theme activity of Zhongshan kicked off in the Nantou Central Park. Over 1,000 Tai Chi enthusiasts from across the city took part in a show hoping to promote this sport event.

During the activity, Nantou Town also unveiled a group of community-based Tai Chi promotion centers. It is reported that the Zhongshan Tai Chi Association has established 24 Tai Chi coaching centers across the city, covering some 1,200 members, most of which are aged 50 or higher.

Since 2009, China has designated August 8 as the National Fitness Day. On that day and in the following days, rich sports activities and competitions will be held across Zhongshan.
