The Municipal Government held a meeting yesterday to discuss the development of the new energy industry in Zhongshan. The objectives, key fields and preferential policies for the development of the new energy industry have been raised, and it was also planed that the city will strive to be a demonstration base of new energy research & development, manufacturing and application in south China in 10 years.

A special fund of 100 million yuan was also founded to support the leading enterprises and growing SMEs committing to new energy resources and energy-saving in the city.

The meeting set five key industries as the major developing fields: wind turbine equipment industry, LED lighting industry, power cell industry, solar energy industry and biological intelligence equipment manufacturing.
