Yueshan Park, located on a hill at the corner of Pasha Street in Sunwen Middle Road, reopened around 9:00 am on December 11. After six months of repairs, the park, which was once neglected due to its dilapidated facilities, was once again open to the public with a new look.

The previously worn out gate was renovated, and the wall that fell down from the typhoon last year was also repaired. Green plants on the floor of the park have been upgraded and reconfigured. The paved stone pavement is smooth and clean. The newly-built, public toilets are sanitary. Street lamps, monitoring cameras and a set of fitness equipment were added. The original unmovable cultural relics such as the pavilion, stone lions, stone mountains, the memorial archway and the semi-moon terrace were cleaned and properly maintained.

Yueshan Park was founded in 1934 and covers an area of 2465 square meters. There are a number of towering, ancient banyan trees. According to records, there were originally 8 small hills in this area. The middle one was meniscus-shaped and it is called Yueshan (literally Moon Mountain). This is the present location of Yueshan Park. The remaining 7 round hills: Renshan, Wushan (Xishan), Shoushan, Fengshan, Yingshan, Fushan, and Fengshan are scattered about and were collectively known as Qixing Peaks. The ancients were ingenious and named them the "Seven Stars with the Moon."
