The Zhongshan Disabled Persons Federation recently issued the "Temporary Assistance Measures for the Disabled with Unique Difficulties of Zhongshan" (hereinafter referred to as "the Measures") to solve sudden and temporary unique difficulties of the disabled. The temporary assistance specified in the Measures can be applied when disabled individual still face difficulties after receiving the assistance of other government sectors.

The Measures shall be applicable to all the disabled or disabled soldiers in Zhongshan who have the second generation of the disability certificate and the disabled military personnel certificate. Should the foreign disabled persons with special difficulties who live in Zhongshan need temporary assistance, the disabled persons federation of the town (district) shall be responsible for the assistance, which may be implemented with reference to the Measures.

Specific assistance criteria:

The hospitalized disabled persons in poverty due to serious illness, rare illness or personal accident can receive 50% of hospitalization expenses borne by the person; the families who are classified into "double low" or "one household with multiple disabilities" can receive 80% of hospitalization expenses borne by the person, with the maximum amount of 10,000 Yuan.

The Measures is not applicable to persons bearing hospitalization expenses less than 5,000 yuan (except for the "double low" or "one household with multiple disabilities" families), and the assistance is applicable once a natural year.

Should natural disasters such as windstorms, floods, fires, lightning, earthquakes, mudslides, or other inevitable factors cause economic loss to such families, a one-time assistance of 1,000 yuan will be granted, and the "double low" or "one household with multiple disabilities" families can get the one-time assistance of 2,000 yuan.
