Zhongshan Bureau of Industry and Information Technology released the 14th Five-Year Plan on Industry and Information Technology Development of Zhongshan was released on its website on May 11.
The plan proposes that by 2025, Zhongshan will strive to take the lead in the development of the manufacturing industry in Guangdong Province and build itself as a strong manufacturing city and a world-class manufacturing base in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. By 2035, a number of advanced manufacturing industrial clusters with global competitiveness will be created, and a world-class advanced manufacturing base will be built. Also, efforts will be made to build Zhongshan into a first-tier manufacturing city in China.
The plan generally hopes to take Zhongshan's industrial foundation and future development to strengthen the its manufacturing industry and cultivate and develop in five key industrial fields: strategic pillar industries, strategic emerging industries, local industries, future-minded industries, and productive service industries. The plan also mentions to promote eight major tasks and the implementation of ten major projects.
The plan proposes to deepen the digitalization of the manufacturing industry and create an opportune environment for the development of the digital economy. In addition to accelerating the implementation of digital and intelligent technologies, modernizing traditional industries, and promoting industrial Internet technologies, Zhongshan will build digital economy industrial parks in many towns and districts.
Goals for cooperation between Zhongshan and Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao in the manufacturing industry are described in the plan. These goals include, accelerating the planning and construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong Biomedical Cooperation and Innovation Zone and exploring cooperative mechanisms for the coordinated development of the Hong Kong-Zhongshan biomedical industry.
