A meeting of the leading group on constructing high-level universities was held in Zhongshan yesterday morning. The meeting summarized work in the previous stage and deployed next stage of work.

It is learned that the work of constructing high-level universities in Zhongshan is going on smoothly. Zhongshan signed an agreement with Coventry University to build an overseas campus in Zhongshan on Mar. 23. The orientation and design of Zhongshan Campus of Coventry University have been decided. The application is expected to be submitted to Ministry of Education of China in September. In terms of cooperation in building universities of applied technology, Zhongshan has signed with German Deggendorf Institute of Technology and Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences. The cooperation between Zhongshan and German universities of applied sciences gets strong support from Guangdong Provincial Government. Zhongshan is expected to sign agreements with the two German universities recently.

Meanwhile, Zhongshan also made progress in improving levels of existing colleges.Zhongshan will deepen cooperation with University of Electronic Science and Technology to support the upgradation of Zhongshan Institute. In addition, Guangdong Province aims to support the construction of about 15 top vocational colleges in China with international influence. Related vocational colleges in Zhongshan are making preparations to apply for the support.
