Zhongshan Education and Sports Bureau days before issued a notice on the Work Plan for the Layout and Adjustment of Zhongshan Secondary Vocational Schools. According to the Work Plan, Zhongshan will take the form of "one school, two districts" and merge some secondary vocational schools, making the total number from 10 to 6.

At present, there are 3 higher vocational and technical colleges in Zhongshan, namely Guangdong Polytechnic Institute, Zhongshan Polytechnic and Zhongshan Torch Polytechnic.

Zhongshan also has 10 secondary vocational schools. The Work Plan stipulates that Zhongshan Jianbin Vocational and Technical Secondary School and Zhongshan Dongfeng Polytechnic School will be merged into "Zhongshan Jianbin Vocational and Technical School"; Zhongshan Sanxiang Polytechnic School and Tanzhou Polytechnic School of Zhongshan will be merged into "Zhongshan Modern Vocational and Technical School"; Zhongshan Torch Voc-tech School and Zhongshan Nanlang Polytechnic School will be merged into "Zhongshan Torch Science and Technology School"; Zhongshan Gangkou Technical High School will be merged into Zhongshan Technical Secondary School; Zhongshan No.1 Secondary Vocational School will be renamed as "Zhongshan No.1 Vocational and Technical School".

In order to maintain teaching staff stability, at the early stage of the school merger, the posts of teachers in all secondary vocational schools in Zhongshan will remain basically unchanged.

In terms of student arrangement, future graduation certificates will be issued with the name and seal of the new school.

The start-up time of the merger is set from January to February 2020, and the merger will enter the completion phase in March.
