The Zhongshan Development and Reform Bureau on August 11 published the pre-approval public notice on the construction of Zhongshan People's Hospital's new branch.

According to the public notice, the proposed project is located in the Changjiang driving test site in East District, with a total floor area of 358,600 square meters and a total investment of over 4.5 billion yuan.

The new general hospital branch will include 2,000 beds, in addition to rooms for seven types of uses, rooms specific to large medical devices, a fever clinic, research and teaching rooms, rooms for cultural activities, rooms for convenient services and etc. It will also provide 3,000 parking stalls for cars and 1,000 for motorcycles.

The construction is scheduled to run from September 2024 to May 2027.

The new branch integrating medical treatment, teaching, research, preventive healthcare and other functions will be built in line with the Grade 3A hospital standards. It will serve as the institutes of clinical medicine, cardiovascular disease and oncology, a postdoctoral workstation, and a standardized training base for national resident doctors. Centers for medical imaging diagnosis, medical examination, pathological diagnosis, electrocardiogram diagnosis, surgical anesthesia, sterilization and supply, computer network and big data, and ECMO will be built inside.
